Eight Directional Martial Arts delivers to students effective skills in self-defense. Whether you are seeking karate retaining the traditional values, street wise self defense, or more intense kick boxing. Modern martial arts methodology is delivered to students in a safe and family friendly environment at one of our fully equipped centres.

Our kids classes have been designed specifically to not only teach them Martial Arts but to also develop confidence, discipline and respect.

Founder & President

Master Luke Walsh, a national champion and multi-disciplinary gold medalist has been a student of Japanese and Korean martial arts for over 35 years.

Black Belt Achievements
Currently, Luke holds the rank of 7th Dan Black Belt in the Eight Directional System, 7th Dan Black Belt Senshikan Karate, 7th Dan Black Belt Pro Taekwondo, 5th Dan Black Belt Haidong Gumdo, 5th Dan Mixed Fighting Arts, 2nd Dan Black Belt World Taekwondo, 2nd Dan Black Belt Tuek Gong Moosool, 1st Dan Black Belt Kyokushin Karate and Black Belt Silat.

Thirteen time Australian Haidong Gumdo champion in cutting and patterns. Two time Mulimpia Australia champion open weapons and karate. Thirteen time power breaking champion. Two time QLD TKD power and technical breaking champion. Port Stephens best technical athlete. Four time NZ Kyokushin karate champion. Two gold and three silver 2018 World Mulimpia championships.

Luke has a deep passion for martial arts, and passes this onto all his students, both adults and children. Many students of Master Luke have achieved beyond their expectations at personal or competitive levels.
TROY TIMMINS
Vice President

Sensei Troy Timmins, emerged from predominately a traditional Aikido background, as well as various other Japanese forms over the last 30 years.
A former high performance athlete competing on the national and international stage, Troy has a highly competitive nature. Managing a successful career in Hotels and a father of two daughters, Troy recognises the need for balance in mind, body and spirit.
Reemerging back on the martial arts scene in weapons skills earning his 1st degree in the Korean Sword form of Haidong Gumdo, while concurrently studying Eight Directional Karate, Tuekgong Moosul and Taekwondo.

Troy at a competeition level has placed 2nd at the Australia Sparring Championships, 2nd in Karate Kata and numerous awards in swordsmanship.
Troy is a 3rd Dan in Eight Directional Martial Arts, 3rd Dan in Senshikn Karate, 2nd Dan in Haidong Gumdo and a 1st Dan in Teuk Gong Moosool.
