Sensei Troy Timmins
With over 30 years of experience, Shihan Troy Timmins brings a wealth of knowledge rooted in traditional Aikido and various Japanese martial arts. A former high-performance athlete who has competed on both national and international stages, Troy’s competitive drive is matched only by his dedication to the arts. Currently, he holds a 5th Dan in Eight Directional Martial Arts, a 3rd Dan in Senshikan Karate, and a 3rd Dan in Haidong Gumdo, alongside his rank in Teuk Gong Moosool.
Troy’s expertise is backed by a shelf full of hardware, including 2nd place finishes in the Australia Sparring Championships and Karate Kata, as well as numerous awards for his precision in swordsmanship. Outside the dojang, Troy balances a successful career in the hotel industry with being a proud father of two daughters. This busy lifestyle has given him a deep appreciation for the "balance of mind, body, and spirit," a philosophy he brings to every class to help his students find their own center—both on and off the mats.

Sabon Nim Kathy
Behind every great martial arts school is a steady hand keeping things moving, and for us, that’s Kathy. As a Sabon Nim in Haidong Gumdo, she has the technical expertise and the rank, but these days you’re more likely to find her conquering a mountain of paperwork than a sparring match. Kathy is our resident "admin ninja," working tirelessly behind the scenes to make sure the school runs like clockwork so the rest of us can focus on our forms.
Whether she’s managing schedules, handling memberships, or keeping the digital dojang organized, Kathy’s discipline on the mats translates perfectly to her sharp eye for detail in the office. She’s the glue that holds our community together, ensuring everything is in its right place with the same precision she brings to a sword draw. If the lights are on and the belts are ordered, you probably have Kathy to thank!
Sempi Raphael
Meet Raphael, a 1st Dan Black Belt in both Karate and Haidong Gumdo who is officially trading in his student badge for a sempi one. While he’s a veteran when it comes to mastering kata techniques, he’s brand new to the teaching game bringing a fresh vibe to the mat.
